The enigmatic blue feline, resembling a fusion of a Smurf, a cat, and a mushroom, has evolved into a viral sensation across social media. Its origin can be traced back to Nate Hallinan, who, in 2014, pondered the hypothetical appearance of real-life Smurfs. Nearly a decade later, this petite azure Smurf cat, affectionately known as Shailushai or шайлушай, has conquered TikTok, often accompanied by Alan Walker’s “The Spectre,” featuring the lyrics: “We live. We Love. We Lie.” Posts featuring Shailushai attract an avalanche of comments and have sparked a trend of incorporating Shailushai into diverse scenarios, even infiltrating the world of Minecraft.

A TikTok user named ghojam1 appears to be one of the earliest adopters, discovering and introducing Shailushai in an August TikTok video that swiftly garnered 2.2 million views.

Additionally, a peculiar trend has emerged where users compete to be the first to comment: “The image isn’t loading, but I swear it’s the Smurf cat.”

Another noteworthy phenomenon on the platform revolves around the “smurf cat.” Yes, you read that correctly. The hashtag #smurfcat boasts an impressive 691.9 million views, while its Russian counterpart, #шайлушай, amasses an additional 443.1 million views.
